Thymosin Alpha-1 (Ta1) is a naturally occurring 28-amino-acid peptide originally isolated from thymic tissue. It promotes the differentiation of immature T-cells into functional CD4+ and CD8+ T-lymphocytes, enhances natural killer (NK) cell activity, stimulates dendritic cell maturation for improved antigen presentation, and modulates pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine balance. BPC-157 complements these immune effects by maintaining intestinal barrier integrity (preventing endotoxin translocation), modulating the gut-brain axis via enteric nervous system signalling, and providing anti-inflammatory support through nitric oxide system regulation. Together, the two peptides address both systemic adaptive immunity and the gut-immune interface.
